Film Vs Digital

The never ending competition between the “better” medium.

Old Age vs. New Age. Traditional vs. Modern. Analog vs. Digital…. There are so many phrases, we could go on and on. However, let us simplify, without becoming overly scientific, the differences these mediums have.

According to Kodak’s Book Of Film Care, film is, animal, vegetable and mineral. Also known as Gelatin, Polyester and Cellulose. Gelatin is made from animal bones and hides. Polyester is made from petrolium, which is basically decomposed vegetable matter and Cellulose is from plant material.

So, when all these ingredients are compiled together… as a base and as light sensitive minerals, that as soon as they are exposed to light, a chemical reaction takes place and vĂola, we are provided our photographic image. Wild right? To think all this is included in a single box that usually costs $13-$18.99.
